During the summer, we spend a lot of time outside in our yards. We love the fresh air and the landscaping full of flowers, shrubs, and trees, but is there something else lurking there that mars the view? Are there some things sitting there rusting or piled in a corner? The summer is the perfect time to clean up and get rid of that junk. But, what do you do when the items are too big for your waste bin?
Disposing of Large Junk
There are so many items that can accumulate in your yard that need special handling for disposal. Some of those materials may be leftover from a construction project or a patio that has been removed. Other items might be old, broken, or unused and just sitting there deteriorating day by day. It would be great to remove these items, free up that space in your yard, and remove the eyesores.
Some of the junk items in your yard may include:
- Broken Lawn Mowers
- Old Garden Tools
- Damaged Gas or Charcoal Grills
- Rusted Free Standing Fire Pits
- Left Over Deck Building Materials
- Pavers or Stones from a Removed Patio
- Damaged Trellises or Arbors Removed from Garden
- Unused Squirrel and Bird Feeders
- Busted Sporting Equipment (i.e., canoes, kayaks, bicycles, paddleboards, etc.)
- Rusted Patio Furniture
- Non-Running ATVs or motorcycles
- Decrepit Swing Sets
- Cracked Oversized Planters
These oversized items are hard to dispose of because of their size. Some waste disposal companies will allow customers to schedule a special bulk item pick-up, but others do not. Also, some communities have annual big item disposal days. Otherwise, homeowners are left having to take the items to the local dump, but what if you don’t have a truck?
Junk Removal Companies
When a homeowner wants an easy way to get rid of yard junk, residential junk removal companies are ready to help. These companies will haul away just about anything that will fit in or on their trucks. There are restrictions on hazardous materials or biological waste, but just about everything else is fair game.
Environmentally responsible junk removal companies don’t just haul stuff to the landfill. Instead, they will sort the items and recycle, donate, or dispose of them depending on the condition of the items collected.
What About Yard Waste?
Although some waste removal companies will collect yard waste (leaves, branches, tree stumps, etc.), others do not. If you need yard waste removed, contact a company that turns it into mulch or compost after collecting it—keeping it out of the landfills.
